Everyone! On May 26, 2014, I posted something about the 46th Annual Wild Game Feed. Take a look.
Thanks,
David
The 2013 Annual Wild Game Feed at Irvine Lake is on its way!! My ticket order form has arrived, and it’s already filled out, stuffed in an envelope, stamped, and in the mail. This year I plan to show up early, stay late, and have a truckload of fun—just like I do every year.
While I don’t live just for the Wild Game Feed, I do start
looking forward to it about 364 days in advance. It’s held on the third Friday of September each year (this year
it is September 20, 2013), and by the second Friday of September each
year, I’ve already loaded the car with the things I plan to bring (shelter, big
mug, chairs, etc.). Chances are the
night before The Feed, I’ll just nap if I sleep at all.
Over the years I’ve developed many WGF friends. I don’t know the names of many of them, but
I know their faces, and we will re-bond for another day. The one thing that stands out to me is the
camaraderie of these men (sorry ladies, this is a stag event). Every type and background of man is
represented in the attendance, but we are just a band of brothers. A big band of brothers. Some 1200 or more brothers. And on the day of the feed, we are all
equal. I like this. On this day we will eat, drink, smoke
cigars, play games, share stories, and make plans to meet again next year.
The Annual Wild Game Feed is more than just an outing or a
gathering of men. It is also a
fundraiser for charities. Many dollars
are raised each year to support a number of major and minor organizations
providing help for others, and for this reason alone I support the WGF. The rest is just bonus.
Tickets are limited and invitations are many. Don’t hesitate or they may be sold out.
David,
ReplyDeleteI know some guys who speak very highly of this event. I've never been but it sounds like a great time and I would love to be a part of it. How can I get an invitation?
Thanks,
Josh
Josh,
DeleteI have an order form I can copy and send to you. Just email me your mailing address to fineleatherart@yahoo.com and I'll send it to you immediately. But hurry. This event is often sold out by mid-July.
If you can make it to the Feed, look for me at or near the entry booth. I'm easy to find since I look like Santa Claus.
Thanks,
David
Is there a website where I can submit my application for tickets to this event
ReplyDeleteGeorge,
DeleteThere is no website for this organization, but if you will email your mailing address to me at fineleatherart@yahoo.com I will send you a copy of the form you can use to order tickets. But hurry, they sell out quickly.
Thanks,
David
Is there a way to find out if they are sold out?
ReplyDeleteA friend sent for tickets about the first of July but didn't get them. He was told they were sold out.
DeleteI don't know anyway to find out if there are tickets left except by word of mouth or just by sending them the money and hoping for the best. I do know that earlier is better when it comes to getting these tickets. The Annual Wild Game Feed is extremely popular, and hesitation to order can equal disappointment.

Hi Dave,
ReplyDeleteThis is will be my first year attending this event. Can you give me an idea as to what i should bring? I see that you stated shelter, a mug, and a chair. Anything else?
Hey Bryan,
DeleteWelcome to the greatest event in So.Cal. Well, at least it's in the top five.
The only things required to bring are yourself and your ticket. After that it's a matter of how much you wish to carry in. I always bring a shelter, a mug, a chair or two or three, a metal knife, fork, and spoon (I hate using plastic), an ice chest with my own beverages (I prefer cider over beer), a few plastic bags to take things home in, a couple of tables to eat at, a few hundred pickled quail eggs (be sure to stop by and try some--I'll be near the admissions booth--just look for the big guy with white hair and beard), and a big handful of cigars. Sunscreen and a hat are important. And a big appetite.
There is an area where permanent tables and covering are set up, but it gets crowded quickly there. Also, if you just want to hang out at my shelter, feel free. I'm usually over at the admissions booth with some old friends, but my shelter is basically an open house for anyone.
I hope this helps, but if you have any more questions, just ask.
See you there.
David
